Summer Games 2001 |
| The summer games were held
at beautiful Penn State University. Berks was represented by 75 athletes in
aquatics, softball, track and basketball. 6 Athletes earned double
gold winners, and the varsity basketball team won a gold medal in
its division. If you would like to see how your athlete did

link to start viewing the pictures. We would like to thank Pennsylvania Special Olympics
and Penn State University for the great way they treated our
athletes. It was just wonderful. The Summer Games 2001
were held at Penn State University from June 7-10, 2001. For me it was
the first time I was at the games. I wish everyone with a special needs
child or grandchild could go to the games and see the way these athletes
battle and fight it is truly inspirational. From the first day to the
last day and everything in between the athletes are busy and having fun,
from the opening ceremonies when the Penn State football players and
other athletes sign the athletes shirts and just hang out to the closing
ceremonies when 2,500 athletes and coaches are in the Jordan-Price
building for the closing ceremonies and then a dance that followed. All
the efforts and all the smiles just makes you feel good. I have tried to
