2005 Local Bowling
Tournament
Hiesters Lanes November 17, 2005
The Local Bowling Tournament
this year had over 100 bowlers participating from three areas. Hiester Lanes,
Bowl-O-Roma and from Boyertown. These athletes bowl from the beginning of
September till the tournament in the middle of November. From this tournament
some of the winners of the heats are picked to complete in the sectional
tournament in late March and the winners from there will have a chance to
compete at the Summer State Games at Penn State University in June. As you look
at the following pictures I hope you understand a little bit about Special
Olympics and how special these people are and the pride and the work they put in
to make it to this tournament. It is also Special Olympics largest program and
is run by Head Coach Deb DeMarco and Charlie Foose and Bob and Donna Brightbill
from Boyertown and a host of others
including many volunteers. Many thanks also to Allyn Swavely Exalted Ruler of
Reading Elks 115 who opened the games along with Gene Noll, former exalted ruler
of the Reading Elks 115 and our great friend Frankie May local bowling pro and to everyone who helped with this major
event on the Special Olympics calendar. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
